“From Silence to Self-compassion: Generational Perspectives on Black Mental Wellness”

My Mission

“From Silence to Self-compassion” is a storytelling and wellness project that explores how mental health is understood and experienced across generations in the Black community. My mission is to break the stigma, share real stories, and create culturally safe spaces for healing. By bridging the wisdom of elders with the openness of younger generations, we begin to reclaim our emotional wellness and rewrite the narrative around mental health in the African American and African Diaspora communities.

About Me

Embarking on a New Journey: Ms. California African American Woman of Achievement Pageant 2025

I am honored to be entering the Woman of Achievement (WOA)—a platform that recognizes service, leadership, and authenticity. This moment marks more than a title pursuit; it represents my ongoing journey of growth, courage, and purpose.

As a motivated, service-driven professional with a B.A. in English and a minor in Africana Studies from San Diego State University, I have dedicated myself to community, education, and advocacy. My experience spans hospitality, legal, and educational fields, and I currently work with children on the autism spectrum. My work has taught me empathy, adaptability, and the power of connection.

But my story also includes personal transformation. After earning admission to a prestigious law school in New York, I faced my own mental and physical health crisis. I made the difficult decision to defer my academic pursuits and focus on my well-being. That choice—one rooted in self-assessment and radical self-compassion—helped me reimagine my path and plant the seeds for the mission I carry today. Now, I am preparing to pursue graduate studies in Ethics while continuing to advocate for mental health access and awareness within underserved communities.

As I step into the WOA Pageant, I do so not only as a competitor, but as a woman committed to meaningful change. Healing is activism, and I am here to show that success can be redefined on your own terms—with service, purpose, and self-love leading the way.
